Delivery & collection
UK Shipping Container Delivery and Collection
Getting a container onto site is the bit that usually goes wrong elsewhere. We check the access first, choose the right vehicle, and quote the haulage with the container so the price you're given is the price you pay.
- Access checked before the lorry is booked
- HIAB crane lorries on every delivery
- Delivered nationwide from Darlington

Before we book
The three things we'll ask you
Answer these and a delivery almost never goes wrong.
Where exactly is it going?
The spot on site, the ground surface, and how much clear space there is around it.
How do we get in?
Width of the entrance, low branches or cables, gradients, and whether a HIAB lorry can turn and swing its crane.
Who's there on the day?
Someone on site who can point to the spot, plus any site rules, inductions or timed access windows.

Common questions
Delivery, answered
As a rule of thumb, allow roughly twice the container length in clear straight space, plus room for the lorry. For a 20ft container that's about 40 to 45 feet of clear run with firm ground. If it's tight, send us a photo and we'll tell you honestly whether it will work.
Firm and reasonably level: hardcore, concrete, tarmac or compacted stone all work well. Soft grass or new tarmac in hot weather can be a problem. We normally recommend sleepers or slabs under the four corners.
Every delivery comes on a HIAB crane lorry. The driver lifts the container off and places it exactly where you want it, so there's no need for a crane or forklift at your end.
Local deliveries around Darlington, Teesside, Durham and North Yorkshire are often within a few days. Nationwide is usually within a week, subject to haulage. If you have a fixed date, tell us and we'll work to it.
Yes. If you have a suitable trailer and lifting arrangements at your end, you're welcome to collect from the depot on the A66 at Sadberge. We'll load you with our forklift.
Delivery is priced on distance from our Darlington depot, the size of the container and how easy the site is to reach. We include haulage in every quote, so you get one delivered price for the container and the transport rather than a surprise charge later.
We deliver containers anywhere in mainland UK. We're busiest across Darlington, Teesside, Durham, North Yorkshire, Tyneside and Yorkshire, but we regularly run loads to the Midlands, the South and Scotland.
No. We only use HIAB crane lorries, so the lifting gear comes with the delivery. The driver can lift the container over a fence, wall or hedge where access allows and set it down exactly on your base.
Allow around 10 feet of clear width and check for low branches, cables, gateposts and tight turns. Soft verges and steep entrances cause more failed deliveries than narrow gates, so tell us about the approach when you book.
In most cases a container used for storage is treated as a temporary structure and does not need planning permission, but rules vary by council and by site, especially in conservation areas or on residential frontages. Check with your local authority if you are unsure.
Yes. We collect containers across the UK and can buy your unit outright. Send us the size, condition, postcode and a couple of photos and we'll quote for collection.
