Grades
What the grades actually mean
No jargon games. Here's the plain English version of how we describe used stock.
Wind and watertight
Our standard used grade. Surface rust and dents you'd expect from a working life at sea, but dry inside and fully usable for storage.
Cargo worthy
A step up in condition and the grade to ask for if the container may be shipped or moved regularly.
Refurbished
Repaired, treated and repainted at our depot. A tidier look for sites where appearance matters.
Used containers

FAQ
Questions about buying a used container
Quick answers to the things people ask us most.
We grade our used containers as wind and watertight, cargo worthy, or refurbished. Wind and watertight units are dry and usable but show age and surface wear. Cargo worthy units are in better structural condition and can still be shipped. Refurbished units have been repaired and repainted at our depot for a smarter finish.
If the unit is already on our yard, we can often deliver within a few working days. We'll confirm the exact timing when you call, and we'll always send photos of the actual container before you pay.
Used containers are sold as seen, so we encourage you to visit our depot or request photos before buying. If the container arrives with a fault that was not shown or described, let us know within 48 hours of delivery and we'll make it right.
A used container costs considerably less than a new one, and the price depends on size, grade and where it is going. We quote live prices that always include haulage to your postcode, so the delivered figure you see is the figure you pay.
We stock used containers in 8ft, 10ft, 20ft and 40ft, including high cube units. A used 20ft container is the most popular choice for storage at home, on farms and on building sites, while 40ft units give the most space for the money.
Yes. Every used container we sell is checked as wind and watertight before it leaves our Darlington depot, with sound doors, seals and roof. Older paintwork and surface rust are cosmetic and do not affect how dry the container stays.
You can. You're welcome to walk the yard on the A66 at Sadberge near Darlington and pick the exact unit you want, or we'll send photographs of the specific container we're offering you if a visit isn't practical.
We deliver used containers anywhere in the UK from our Darlington depot, with local deliveries across Teesside, Durham, North Yorkshire and Tyneside often within a few days. Haulage is quoted upfront as part of the price.
Expect a structurally sound container with dents, scratches, patches of surface rust and faded original paint. It will be dry inside, the doors will open and close, and the seals will be intact. If you want a smarter look, ask about our refurbished and repainted units.
Yes. If you have a container you no longer need, we buy used containers across the North East and further afield. Send us the size, condition and location and we'll come back with an offer and arrange collection.
